The job: 1) Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to keep Tribe.net up and running operationally. This will involve participating in the tribes about Tribe.net in order to gather troubleshooting information from users who are experiencing difficulty. Users are the best source of ops info! 2) The hours are very flexible, and working remotely is definitely an option. 3) It is a very rewarding user base to work for, not your typical enterprise software customers. Supporting a platform where real people are doing real things makes the job that much more interesting and relevant. The ideal applicant has: 1) Experience administering Linux production environments. 2) Familiarity with troubleshooting MySQL, Apache, and Tomcat. 3) Close proximity to Tribe.net production data center, located in the Bayshore neighborhood in San Francisco, in case on-site emergency procedures are necessary. 4) Been to Burning Man, or willing to hold your own in a conversation about it. 5) Job involves carrying a pager, and the occasional late night support page. We have never had to go to the data center late night to fix a problem, but remote support and troubleshooting is necessary from time to time.
